History
See the heritage of FaithWay Baptist Church.
Our Beginning
FaithWay Baptist Church traces its roots back to a humble beginning in 1972, when the Lord led Pastor Gayle Russ to establish Boeke Road Baptist Church. A native of Central City, Kentucky, Pastor Russ had originally moved his family to Evansville to pursue a career in radio. However, God had a different plan—calling him into full‒time ministry. He faithfully pastored the church for 42 years, providing steady, Spirit‒led leadership until his resignation in 2014.
Our Continuing
In March of 2014, the church overwhelmingly voted—by a 97% majority—to call Pastor Stephen Russ as the next pastor. Since that time, God has continued to bless and grow our ministry under Pastor Stephen’s leadership. Local outreach has flourished, souls have been saved, and lives have been transformed through the preaching of the Gospel.
Our Relocation
In 2019, God once again directed our church in a major way. We purchased the property at 3635 Pollack Avenue, relocated all our services and ministries, and adopted a new name: FaithWay Baptist Church. Our Grand Opening on August 4, 2019, was a day of rejoicing and remembrance—a testimony to the unity, faith, and miraculous provision of God that carried us through the transition. Those who were part of that season will never forget the excitement and clear evidence of God's hand at work.
Our Mission
FaithWay has become a spiritual home to a faithful and loving church family—people who are passionate about reaching Evansville and beyond with the life‒changing message of Jesus Christ. Today, our mission is clear: to love God wholeheartedly, serve others selflessly, grow together in grace, and boldly share the Gospel of salvation. We invite you to be a part of what God is doing here—come join us on this exciting journey of faith!
